GPCM™: A Tool for Serious Market Analysis and Forecasting
You can't build a bridge, an airplane, or a computer without the right tools. The same is true for market analysis and forecasting. The gas industry has changed dramatically over the past decade. It is no longer acceptable to plan and make decisions with yesterday's inadequate tools.
RBAC, Inc. has designed GPCM specifically for planners and analysts in the energy industry who understand that natural gas in North American is now a fully integrated industry that must be viewed and analyzed as such. They know that conditions and events in one part of the continent ripple through the North American grid in complex patterns which are difficult or impossible to predict using outdated methods.
GPCM is the first tool having the necessary detail for planners and analysts to study the complex interactions among producers, pipelines, storage facilities, gas marketers, and consumers in this highly integrated continent-wide industry.
GPCM is unique. Based on a pipeline specific model of the industry, GPCM contains more than 160 existing and proposed pipelines, 150 storage areas, 75 production areas, 45 LNG import terminals, and nearly 500 demand centers. You can run multi-period scenarios of any duration to study seasonal production, storage and consuming patterns. It is an open system rather than a black box. There is no "hard-wired" or hidden data. You have complete control over all data and assumptions defining the scenarios you want to create.
The marketplace has been very receptive to this sophisticated tool. GPCM was launched in 1997 with Resource Data International (now Platts Research & Analytics) as its first licensee. As of January 2010, GPCM has 28 licensees, comprising gas producers, pipelines, marketers, power developers, and energy consulting firms.
