John Collins

Senior Market Analyst, RBAC Inc.

Mr. Collins is an energy analyst with over six years of energy industry experience. His career began with GlobalData Publications, Inc., a London based market research firm, as an Upstream Analyst evaluating upstream oil and gas assets and developing complex financial models of international hydrocarbon tax codes. During his five years as an Economist with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, Mr. Collins lead quantitative and qualitative analyses in the power and natural gas markets that were used to inform Commissioners’ decisions in official proceedings on pipeline certifications under the Natural Gas Act, tariff revisions in both the interstate natural gas markets and organized power markets, as well as numerous other Commission efforts.

In 2019, Mr. Collins joined RBAC, Inc. as a Market Analyst. He brings a thorough understanding of the oil and gas industry, mathematical modeling, energy economics, and federal regulations. In addition, he possesses extensive experience using GPCM and other energy sector modeling software. As a Market Analyst, he is deeply involved with developing the quarterly GPCM Base Case database releases.

Mr. Collins holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Louisiana State University, a Master of Science in Mineral and Energy Economics from Colorado School of Mines, and a second Master of Science degree in Petroleum Economics and Management from Institut Français du Pétrole et des Energies Nouvelles located in Rueil-Mailmaison, France. Mr. Collins attended the Colorado School of Mines under a Department of Energy fellowship during which he evaluated the environmental impacts and required inputs of various nuclear fuel cycle options.
