Natural Gas: The Energy Fueling Tomorrow’s Tech Revolution

As the world accelerates its push to build the digital infrastructure of the future, natural gas is emerging as a key force powering the tech revolution. Surging energy demand from data centers fueling artificial intelligence, cutting-edge semiconductor manufacturing, crypto operations, and global cloud computing networks is reshaping the energy landscape. And while renewables continue to expand their role, natural gas remains the dependable foundation providing the scalable, flexible, and lower emission power required to keep these systems operating around the clock. Its reliability and efficiency make it an essential bridge between today’s technology demands and tomorrow’s breakthroughs.

In this edition of RBAC’s monthly newsletter you will see how natural gas is powering the future: We have a look at the last update to our 25Q3 base-case for the GPCM® Market Simulator for North American Gas and LNG™, Cyrus Brooks and Armando Cavanha meet once again to explore Bill Gates’ latest reflections on climate policy, his article “Three Tough Truths About Climate,” last but certainly not a least we have a recap of our annual user conference that took place in Houston on November 19th through the 21st.

Join our mailing list today and receive updates directly from RBAC. Not only will you receive this newsletter in your inbox, but also those who sign up on our website will also receive articles a week in advance and other important communications from the team here at RBAC.

Top Stories in Natural Gas and LNG from Around the World

Quick Brief – U.S. Natural Gas Prices Across Different Sectors

Natural gas prices in the United States have increased across all sectors this year as a result of increases in wholesale natural gas prices. However, the amount is different across the sectors. The EIA reports that they expect, “The 2025 annual average price of natural gas paid by electric power plants to increase by 37% and the price paid by industrial sector customers to increase by 21% compared with the 2024 averages.”

Players in industrial and electric power customers usually purchase natural gas wholesale. This means that the wholesale price directly affects these sectors more than it does for commercial and residential.

How will natural gas prices continue to evolve in the coming years? And how can power analysts factor natural gas prices into their market modeling and analysis?

RBAC’s Gas4Power enables analysts to fully understand the intricacies of how gas and power markets interact and eliminate differentials between price and demand forecasts generated by both gas and power market models.
