James Brooks

Director of
Business Development

Mr. James Brooks is an Energy Industry Professional with over twenty years of experience in energy market data analytics and business development.  Mr. Brooks earned his degree in International Studies with a focus on both Economics and Political Science from the University of California at Irvine in 2003.

Mr. Brooks joined RBAC as the Database & Support Manager of the GPCM® Market Simulator for North American Gas and LNG.  In that role he designed systems for collecting and qualifying the North American natural gas and LNG market data being used in the development of RBAC’s GPCM databases.

In 2008, Mr. Brooks was promoted to Director of Business Development, where he developed precise marketing and sales programs that have directly contributed to GPCM becoming the most widely used Natural Gas and LNG market simulation system throughout North America.

With the release of RBAC’s G2M2® Market Simulator for Global Gas and LNG, Mr. Brooks applied the successful marketing programs used in expanding RBAC’s market share in North America to the global gas and LNG markets.  Mr. Brooks has successfully helped clients and industry colleagues develop their energy market analytics capabilities to support their company’s strategic goals.

Mr. Brooks works to help his clients address the many challenges facing the energy industry today by developing their own in-house energy markets analytics capabilities using market simulation tools that support M&A strategy, risk analysis, trading, energy transition strategies, and policy assessment.

In August 2023, Mr. Brooks accepted the role as Chief Operating Officer at RBAC Inc., where he continues to drive growth strategies for expanding RBAC’s gas and LNG market simulation software market share in alignment with RBAC’s mission statement “to contribute to global prosperity and sustainability through improvements in the quality and effectiveness of economic decisions made by the energy industry.”

According to Mr. Brooks, “The push towards a lower carbon emissions future has revealed the tremendous need to create workable strategies that ensure energy security, increase affordable energy access, and achieve long term environmental goals.  To successfully navigate this transition, one has to be able run and analyze many different scenarios to fully understand the changing market dynamics, giving them the insights they need to support their strategy and achieve their goals.”

Mr. Brooks believes that one is only as valuable as he can help others and uses that philosophy when working with his clients and colleagues.

Mr. Brooks is very active in both local and national community affairs and frequently volunteers at community events as a drug prevention educator.  He also volunteers during natural disasters such as hurricanes Katrina and Harvey.  His volunteer efforts help individuals and families who have been struck by disasters to handle their immediate situation and get back on their feet.
