Session 2 - China's LNG Outlook
Presented by David Zhou
Presented by David Zhou
In 2022, China’s consumption of natural gas saw a decline for the first time in history due to the pandemic. In 2023, China’s economic activities returned to normal. Although it did not meet the expectations at the beginning of the year, the annual natural gas consumption still achieved significant growth, with a consumption volume of 391 billion cubic meters and a growth rate of 7.3%. LNG imports also increased by nearly 8 million tons.
It is expected that China’s GDP growth rate will be around 5% in 2024, and natural gas consumption will steadily increase. LNG imports will continue to sustain rapid growth If international prices do not fluctuate significantly,
In this presentation, David Zhou from JLC will share his insights on:
- Development of China’s natural gas market in 2023 – supply-demand, prices, LNG imports
- Outlook for China’s natural gas market in 2024
- Medium- to long-term prospects for China’s natural gas market
